OCF downtime

The OCF login servers (conquest and apocalypse) and lab machines are currently down for maintenance, and many services in the lab itself are unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and the delay in communicating this, and hope to be able to provide more details soon.

Is there any expectation yet as to when it might be possible to log into ocf, and also, in the interim is there some way I can access the material stored there, such as my address book in Pine?

The web-based FTP is still working to a degree.

Neither FTP's are working from my building, Banway.

I'm missing some important university deadline-related e-mails! Getting worried now.

For users like me who are looking for updates... I checked the ocf irc and there's a message that says "pandemic will be rebuilt on monday". Also, there's a link posted:

Hopefully that means that things will be back up sooner rather than later...

Webmail and remote login are down, but POP is up. I am able to use a desktop mail client such as Thunderbird or Mail.app to retrieve my ocf email via POP. So now I can send and receive my ocf email. You can set up your client and tell it NOT to delete email off the server after retrieving it, so that when the OCF returns fully, you'll be able to switch back to pine.

Use mail.ocf.berkeley.edu for the incoming and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers.
